Yesterday after the kids went to bed I laid out the quilt top in my living room and squared up the edges like I had planned.
The process went smoothly so it didn’t take too much time. Here’s a picture of what part of the quilt top looks like. I will share more photos after I machine quilt it.

I took the time last evening to also cut the pieces for the first boarder (and I need to write down the lengths so I can use them for cutting the next boarder) and pinned them into place.

While I was pinning the boarder pieces in place I noticed something strange about one of the seams on the quilt top.

There is no seam between the strip of heart fabric and the background fabric. I really don’t understand how that happened.
There are even tiny holes in the fabric that would indicate that there were stitches there are some point, but they have vanished into thin air!
However that happened, I am just glad I noticed it while I had the quilt top laid out so that I can fix it. I would have noticed it while long-arm machine quilting, but that it would have been so much more time-consuming to try to fix it then.
So, to finish up this project, here’s what I have left to do:
- Sew the missing seam in the quilt top
- Put the two boarders on
- Long-arm machine quilt
- Add the binding
It’s only May 9th, and the end is definitely in sight for this big project!
