Roadblocks

Roadblocks

Where should I lay out the quilt to square the edges in my small house?

That is the question of the day.

Even my living room has limited space when the quilt in question is a queen-sized one.

Since I will have to lay the quilt out on the floor to square the sides up, I can’t do it when the kids are around. I am not sure how long it will take me, so I think I will move the chairs and coffee table out of the way this evening after the kid’s bedtime and see if I can manage in the space that opens up in the living room.

I am realizing that I have a difficult time choosing a plan of action when I run into roadblocks like this with my projects.

I throw ideas around in my mind, and all of them seem less than ideal, so I don’t make progress. A few days of not making progress due to a roadblock means that the project may be destined to never be completed.

I am a verbal processer and writing on this blog has been a bit like talking out loud to someone about my ideas of how to move forward on my projects. It also is a space for me to write out my plan for overcoming an obstacle which gives me clear direction on what to do next.

Once the edges of the quilt are squared up, putting on the boarders shouldn’t be a roadblock as I don’t need a huge space to lay the quilt out to put those on.

I still have six days until I plan to long-arm machine quilt this quilt, so that timeline will keep me motivated to make progress as well.
