Uff da! I was working consistently on projects for several weeks and very happy with how my tiny sewing closet was looking, and that my half-finished projects were finally making their way to homes where they can be used and loved.
Then a few weeks ago I stalled out on project progress.
Maybe it was the transition into summer that did it. Maybe the fact that I have out-of-town family in town right now (and will for several more days). Maybe I just forgot about projects as my brain focused on other things I enjoy like reading, and school planning for the fall, and taking naps after busy mornings with the kids.
Whatever the reason, or combination of reasons, projects have been pushed to the side.
I want to jump back in and sew today – for whatever small amount of time I can fit in – so that I stop being stalled out.
Finishing projects is difficult for me. I get the most thrill from starting them and cruising along until I hit a challenging part, or it takes longer than I thought, or some other reason. I don’t have good habit around completing projects all the way.
That’s why I started blogging here about my projects a few months ago. I love to write and I decided to write about the project I worked on that day to keep myself accountable and document my progress.
Writing about what I plan to work on also helps me create a plan and stick to it.
So, the plan for today is to cut the binding strips for a queen sized quilt I need to bind. As I consider the schedule for my day I think working on this after the kids are in bed will likely be the best option.
If I notice I a time to squeeze in 20 minutes of fabric cutting earlier in the day, I will do it then, but the day is going to be full so I am not sure it that will be possible.
I will report back soon on the binding progress and other half-finished projects that need rescuing from my sewing closet!
