Hearts, hearts, and more hearts

I am staying focused on my goal finish the quilt for my sister and her husband’s wedding gift completely – piecing, long-arm quilting, and binding – by the end of May. If I can do it sooner, all the better!

Yesterday when I finished sewing I had 13 rows left to piece together. Today I sewed two more rows brining that number down to 11!

I am now working on the last row of hearts, so I needed to decide which fabrics to use for each of those hearts. I chose the fabrics and cut out the pieces for each heart. Once the pieces were cut I used a sewing clip to attach them to a post it note indicating which heart in the row each one is.

Now when I work on piecing, I will only need to cut the background fabric as I sew each row which will significantly reduce the thinking involved in the process.

More updates and photos to come as I get this quilt all the way completed very soon!

Tomorrow is my grocery shopping day, so that takes up any free time I might have in the morning. I want to piece one or two more rows tomorrow during the kids’ afternoon rest time; if my youngest falls asleep for a nap during rest time I may be able to sew more than that. I will see what the time allows.

Consistency – a little bit each day – is better than trying to push and work for long stretches of time. I wear myself out too much that way and then I am not able to finish the projects that I want to.
